It is a very common data format used for asynchronous browser–server communication, including as a replacement for XML in some AJAX-style systems. The sketch also uses an extra file, arduino_secrets.h. If you have not previously programmed the MKR1000, you must first make this board accessable in the IDE. Download the board file “Arduino SAMD boards” via the menu tools / board / board manager, after which you can select the MKR1000 board.

Say out loud the voice commands that you have entered the “IFTTT” website and see how the LED status changes. You can see the LED turning on and off in the video below. It is a software platform in which different applications, devices and services can be connected to each other to create one or several automations. In fact, the IFTTT acts as a communication interface between them.
Code for ESP32 home automation system
As a result, I was excited to get my hands on a board which was one of the newer Arduino boards and try it out. I had to consult multiple websites and forums and spend a number of sleepless nights debugging issues and figuring out solutions. So I decided to write this article to document my journey of connecting my Arduino to AWS IOT along with the various problems and pitfalls and how I resolved those. I hope this article helps someone who is looking for a similar solution or use case consolidated in one place.

Use circuito.io to build a smart food dispenser for your pet controlled directly from your phone. An advanced home automation project with Arduino Uno and Bluetooth sensor to control it, anytime from anywhere. J.A.R.V.I.S. is a personal home automation assistant for controlling electrical home appliances integrated with an augmented reality app. You can also receive a message on your phone to check every time an applet has been active, which is useful for troubleshooting but when everything is working you can turn this off. It is best to set the “feed” in the feed history to OFF, it is not necessary to remember the switching commands.
Controlling Arduino from Google Home: Part 1 - Connecting Arduino Uno Wifi Rev 2 to AWS IOT using Mosquitto bridge
After an exhilarating (and exhausting – more on that later) few days I could finally get a connection from Google Home to Arduino working.
For this article, I will assume a basic level of understanding/familiarity with Arduino and AWS IOT. Try to add your favorite commands like controlling your output pins, you can use a relay module and control you rooms light. With this home automation project, you can control & monitor the real-time feedback of the relays in the Google Home and Alexa App from anywhere in the world. If the Wi-Fi is available, the ESP32 will automatically connect with the Wi-Fi. Make simple IoT-based Projects using ESP32 to control Relays with Google Assistant and Alexa with voice commands.
What Is IFTTT?
You can web search for Sinric Pro and signup for a free-to-use account. You can follow our guide on ESP32 Arduino IoT Relay Control for the basic setup. We have provided an example code in that guide to control 4 relays. In this step, turn on the internet of your cell phone and open the Google Assistant.
2 An Arduino MKR1000 computer to convert the voice commands into switching commands. Save money and electricity with these 4 smart home devices Learn how to lower your electric bill with the help of smart home technology. A list of your Google Home devices should appear. Find the device you want to connect to Wi-Fi, and tap its menu button (three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner).
Making statements based on opinion; back them up with references or personal experience. Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. Octopod, a uniquely shaped full automation system that allows you to monitor your industry and keep security with AI and smart RFID locks. Example code builder to choose your hardware model and connectivity type, and copy the whole code to buffer. Try to send data from Arduino to Google Assistant. A webhook in web development is a method of augmenting or altering the behaviour of a web page, or web application, with custom callbacks.

If the relay module you’re using is Active Low, you should set the ESP32 pin to 0. After uploading the code, connect the ESP32 to the relay module and the LED. The following image shows how you can do that. Then, on the right hand side, click on "Publish to a topic".
Select “Send data to Adafruit-IO”, then, select the name of the created block. You should also enter the desired pin value in ESP32 when the voice command in sent. Google Assistant is an AI assistant developed by google that is mainly available in almost all smart devices.
So set the language to English via settings / more settings / assistant / languages and then choose English . Honestly speaking, this step and the next were the two most time consuming, complicated and confusing steps. Please be prepared to do some trial and error and debugging and hitting some unexplained errors along the way. I even had to reach out to Google Firebase support team who weren’t that helpful either. Finally I figured out some of the solutions by trial and error.
As already mentioned, we need to use a platform called Adafruit-IO to connect the ESP32 to IFTTT. In this step, we are going to connect the ESP32 to Adafruit-IO. Adafruit-IO is actually a cloud storage space that you can connect to through internet. You can use it to connect to a microcontroller like an ESP32 and control its pins. You can actually use it to communicate with any microcontroller in an internet cloud space. We use the IFTTT platform to communicate with Google Assistant.

Then choose the first option "say a simple phrase". Then enter the desired command description and the answer to be given. Download it from the Playstore on your Android phone and install the app. Understanding your own voice commands with Google Home only works with the English language.
